What’s to like:
Head Coach Jeff Traylor and his Roadrunners are geared up for a phenomenal 2025 season. They will have returning QB Owen McCown who threw for 3,424 yards and 25 TDs in 2024. UTSA will also have returning young RB Brandon High, Jr who rushed for 495 yards and 8 TDs.
Through the air UTSA will have a young, talented WR Devin McCuin. McCuin in 2024 racked up 424 receiving yards and 5 TDs. Their defense will also have a young DB, Owen Pewee, that will have to step up in 2025 after he had 42 tackles, 6.5 TFLs, 2 sacks, and 2 INTs.
What’s not to like:
DB Owen Pewee will have to step up on defense in 2025 because UTSA will be losing a lot of key contributors from last season. The Roadrunners will be losing tackle leader Martavius French to the portal. Sack leader and star OLB Jimmori Robinson will be transferring out of UTSA.
UTSA will also be losing key pieces from the defense to the NFL Draft. DL duo Brandon Brown and Asyrus Simon will be headed to the NFL after they combined for 54 tackles, 17 TFLs, and 6 sacks in 2024. They will also be losing their lockdown corner Zah Frazier who is a highly touted prospect in the upcoming draft. Frazier in 2024 racked up 6 INTs, and 9 pass break ups.

Final thoughts:
The UTSA Roadrunners are looking like they will be one of the best in all of the G5. They have almost all of their stars returning on offense, and Jeff Traylor has been proving that he can be one of the best Head Coaches in all of college football. The only thing that will hold them back is their immensely depleted defense that is still struggling to find their leader. However, UTSA does have some young guys on defense who are expected to step up and lead. Expect for Jeff Traylor and his Roadrunners to be world beaters in the 2025 season.
