What’s to like:
After the departure of superstar QB and potential 1st overall pick Cam Ward, Head Coach Mario Cristobal was scrambling to find a new leader for the Hurricane offense. Not only did Coach Cristobal find a new QB, he signed the most shocking signee in the entire portal. The Hurricane’s QB in 2025 will be former Georgia Bulldog, Carson Beck.
Carson Beck for the Bulldogs in 2024 threw for 3,485 yards and 28 TDs while leading the Bulldogs to another SEC championship win and a 1st round bye in the playoffs. We don’t know if he can do the same for The U, but it is very exciting to see them go from great QB to another great QB.
What’s not to like:
The Miami Hurricanes lost a lot of great players to the NFL draft, and while we know the greatness of Cam Ward, there are other players leaving who had tremendous impacts. On offense, The U lost WR Xavier Restrepo and RB Damien Martinez who both combined for 2,129 yards and 22 TDs rushing and receiving.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Hurricanes are losing a pillar of that defense with Safety Mishael Powell. Mishael Powell’s impact was felt all over the field with 38 tackles and 5 INTs, returning 1 for a TD. It will be a tall task for Coach Mario Cristobal to replace players of this caliber.

Final thoughts:
The Miami Hurricanes are coming off a phenomenal season being led by great players including the potential #1 pick with Cam Ward. Head Coach Mario Cristobal will have a lot of work to do if he wants Miami to have more success in 2025. Miami has a great coach and great players, and the ACC better have the weather channel on because there’s a Hurricane coming.
