What’s to like:
Head Coach Sherrone Moore and his Michigan Wolverines had a disappointing season in 2024 following their National Championship win the year before. Coach Moore will have to lean on his defense in 2025 if he wants to rebuild this team. Luckily they will have their returning star LB Ernest Hausmann who in 2024 put up 89 tackles (led the team), 7 TFLs, 2 sacks, and 1 INTs.
Sherrone Moore also did a great job at utilizing the portal as he was able to bring in some quality talent. Transferring from Arkansas, flashy safety TJ Metcalf after a season where he had 57 tackles, 3 INTs, and 7 passes broken up. The Wolverines will also have some help on the offensive side of the ball as they got Alabama transfer RB Justice Haynes who in 2024 rushed for 448 yards and 7 TDs.
What’s not to like:
Michigan already had a depleted offense heading into the 2024 season, and with guys transferring and graduating, it will only look worse in 2025. The Wolverines will be losing their RB core, WR core, and will have many questions at the QB position.
Michigan did get a transfer QB, Mikey Keene, who appears to be the potential starter week 1. Keene transferred from Fresno State after he threw for 2,892 yards and 18 TDs. Only time will tell if Coach Moore can recover from their offensive losses and if the new QB can find his place on the team. Their success in 2025 hinges on if that offense can fix those problems.

Final thoughts:
The Michigan Wolverines will have some of the highest expectations and even higher odds against them heading into the 2025 season. Their defense will be fantastic, but they can only do so much. If the Wolverines want to fulfill all of the expectations, their offense has got to have significant improvements this season. Sherrone Moore is still a young head coach, but as he gains more experience, the better his team continues to look.
